We're committed to building Stitchwork with safety, responsibility, and trust at its core. Artificial intelligence (AI) can be powerful, and in research contexts it must be applied with care. Our goal is to help researchers work faster and more effectively, without compromising rigour, ethics, or participant trust.
A thoughtful approach to AI in user research
User researchers collect data about real human experiences of using products and services. Analysing and synthesising this data is best led by human researchers with the experience, empathy and intuition to do the work justice.
Advances in AI have the potential to make this human work easier. Stitchwork is designed to take on repetitive information-processing tasks, so researchers can spend more time on the higher-level work of finding meaning in the data.
At Stitchwork we’re taking a thoughtful approach to applying AI to user research. We’re still in development, but we are committed to reviewing and updating our approach to AI safety as the product develops.
Our AI principles
Empower humans
The human researcher is involved at every step, making all the critical decisions. AI is there to enhance human judgement, not replace it.
Be transparent
We will clearly communicate about the capabilities and limitations of Stitchwork’s AI features. AI-assisted analysis and synthesis will have full traceability: tags, themes and insights can be linked back to individual data points for validation. AI-generated outputs will be clearly labelled as such.
Protect privacy and security
Your data is yours. We don’t use your project or participant data to train AI models. All personal and sensitive data is encrypted in storage and transit, and handled in line with GDPR.
Support ethical research
AI should uphold the values of ethical research. That means respecting participant consent in how data is used, minimising bias, and facilitating rigorous, human-led analysis.
